Our Project Manager

Surat-Shaan Knan is a Diversity Consultant, LGBTQI+ Heritage Manager, and Public Speaker, based in London (UK).

Shaan is the founder and manager of the landmark Heritage Lottery Fund supported projects Rainbow Jews , Twilight People and most recently Rainbow Pilgrims  – the projects are hosted by Liberal Judaism.

Shaan is a proud member of the Stonewall Trans Advisory Group. He also works as Trans Organisation Network Worker for the LGBT Consortium, and is a trustee of GIRES.

Shaan has delivered numerous keynote speeches, presentations, workshops and training units, including Stonewall Workplace Conference (London 2019 & Edinburgh 2017).

Other projects include: AHRC funded project Ritual Reconstructed in collaboration with Buckinghamshire New University, Portsmouth University, and Coventry University (2015/16), and Through a Queer Lens, an Arts Council England supported portrait exhibition by Ajamu and The Jewish Museum London (Feb 2016).

He organised the 1st UK Trans* & Faith Symposium at the University of Warwick in May 2016. He is also involved in the Global Interfaith Network GIN SSOGIEs

Shaan has an M.A. degree in Psychology (Gender Studies), Journalism and Theatre, and has worked for over two decades as educator, performance artist and project coordinator with numerous international organisations including Sydney Western University.

Susanne Hakuba is a German photographer and writer based in South London, and her main interest is in portrait, documentary and editorial photography. Susanne’s art practice explores complex issues around the themes of identity, memory and history, and she is particularly interested in combining photography with (oral) history and text in new engaging ways. Susanne has exhibited in four solo shows and several group shows in the UK and Germany.

Our Youth Advisory Committee

We have a Youth Advisory & Action Group consisting of up to 20 young people aged 16-25 from various youth groups that. We believe that especially young voices should be included in all project areas.
