Rainbow Pilgrims goes Bristol

June 7, 2018 @ 5:30 am - 8:00 pm UTC+0

Free
Rainbow Pilgrims Exhibition Launch
Carpenter Room, Richmond Building (Bristol SU), Queens Road, BS8 1LN
Please join us on Thursday 7 June (17:30 – 19:45) for a chance to explore the Rainbow Pilgrims touring exhibition.
Rainbow Pilgrims is an archive and oral history project about LGBTQI migrants. It is a landmark project that discovers the hidden history of LGBTQI migrants in the UK past and present. The exhibition explores the narratives around ‘rites and passages’, documenting the interconnection between faith, sexuality, gender, and ethnicity by using oral history, film, and photography.
As well as having the chance to explore the exhibition, visitors will have the opportunity to learn about how the exhibition was created and talk to the Rainbow Pilgrims team. The event will open with a short talk by Councillor Ruth Pickersgill MBE who will be discussing how far Bristol can really be a City of Sanctuary for all asylum seekers and refugees. The event will conclude with a drinks reception funded by the South, West and Wales Doctoral Training Partnership.
Rainbow Pilgrims is a project supported by the National Lottery through the Heritage Lottery Fund and proudly hosted by Liberal Judaism. For more information, please visit the Rainbow Pilgrims website.
