LGBT Refugee Heritage in Manchester

May 3, 2017 @ 8:00 am - May 4, 2017 @ 5:00 pm UTC+0

EVENTS MANCHESTER in MAY 2017:

Rainbow Pilgrims: The Rites and Passages of Lgbtqi Migrants in Britain) will be holding a Workshop: ‘Storytelling with Objects’, from 6.15 pm to 7.30 pm at the LGBT Foundation.

The workshop is aimed at First Wednesday Group members and friends – you are invited to bring along a ‘ritualistic’ item that is significant for your journey of migration, sexuality, gender, faith or heritage. The Rainbow Pilgrims team will explore the objects in a playful way, and invite participants to share their stories with each other.

You may have the option to record your story for our archive.

Additionally, on Thursday 4th May, Rainbow Pilgrims are organising a Photo Shoot along the LGBT History Trail near Manchester’s Canal Street:

The PHOTO SHOOT is all day!

For Individual photos, appointments can be made via email rainbowpilgrims@liberaljudaism.org or at the workshop tomorrow Wednesday at the LGBT Foundation (see above).

For the Group Photo: Assembly will be outside the LGBT Foundation at 5.30pm. There will be a short walk to the site together so please be on time. Bring flags, or any other object that celebrates your LGBTQI journey. Everyone welcome!

You might also want to bring along your ‘ritual object’ from the workshop and transform your story into an image. Please note: the photos, by photographer Susanne Hakuba, will be displayed publicly via Rainbow Pilgrims.

Places are limited and will be on a first come first served basis. Contact Shaan via the email address below to get involved.
